Mizzou star running back Ahmad Hardy is recovering from a weekend gunshot wound at a Mississippi concert.

Mizzou Athletics has released a statement that says Hardy was shot early Sunday morning and that he’s undergone surgery in Mississippi and is in stable condition.

The “Laurel Leader-Call” newspaper in Laurel Mississippi reports the concert happened at a biker club there. The newspaper quotes Laurel police as saying the incident happened after an outdoor rap concert ended. A police sergeant described the scene as a “a melee.”

Hardy and at least one other person were shot, according to the newspaper. There was a large crowd at the concert, according to their reporting.

Mizzou Athletics says Hardy is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans.

“We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength and support,” their statement says.

Mizzou Athletics says Hardy’s timeline for return to football activities is currently unknown. Hardy rushed for 1,649 yards in 2025, setting a Mizzou single-season record.
