The University of Missouri has released a statement from a professor recorded on undercover video that “lots of us do DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) research.”

The statement says Professor Wayne Brekhus apologizes for his mistake. The Mizzou statement on Twitter quotes Professor Brekhus as saying the video was taken in 2025 as Mizzou was eliminating its DEI programs and that he’s fully aware that Mizzou “no longer has DEI programs and does not conduct DEI research.”

Mizzou’s statement says the professor’s conduct will be investigated and that appropriate actions will be taken.

The University’s statement says Mizzou voluntarily eliminated all DEI programs and DEI requirements in the curriculum and that Mizzou has complied with all federal directives to end DEI research projects.
