Crews will upgrade the current stretch of interstate and will also add a third lane in both directions. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) expects the $425-million project between the Rocheport bridge and Columbia to begin in the spring of 2026, with a completion date of December 2029.

This is all part of a massive $2.8 billion state project to reconstruct and expand I-70 to six lanes from Blue Springs to Wentzville. MoDOT is currently making progress on the $405-million project to rebuild I-70 between Columbia and Kingdom City and add an additional lane to that 20-mile stretch.
