You’ll notice television cameras and news reporters near the interstate Thursday afternoon, as Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) officials brief reporters on-scene to preview the work. MoDOT crews plan to demolish the now-closed bridge from westbound I-70 to the Business Loop. That demolition will require an extended single-lane closure with intermittent full closures starting Friday night at 7 and going to Monday morning. This will impact eastbound I-70 between Paris road and Highway 63.

MoDOT is warning about 30-minute delays all weekend., and they’re advising you to plan ahead and consider alternative routes.

The work is all part of the $2.8 billion project signed into law by then-Governor Mike Parson in 2023 to rebuild and expand I-70 to three lanes between Wentzville and Blue Springs. That includes $405-million for the 20-mile stretch of I-70 between Columbia and Kingdom City.
