Saturday night’s shooting death happened between Harrisburg and Sturgeon. Prosecutors have charged 31-year-old Dalton Remington Perkins with second degree murder, armed criminal action and domestic assault charges for the incident, which happened in the 18000 block of North Highway NN in northern Boone County. Boone County Sheriff’s deputies say the 56-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies are not releasing the victim’s name. Court documents say the victim was shot at least once in the torso.

The Boone County Sheriff Department’s probable cause statement says Perkins also allegedly grabbed someone’s hair and threw them off a porch on Saturday night.

A filing from Boone County prosecutor Roger Johnson describes the suspect as a flight risk.
