CPD’s Facebook post says the shooting happened at about 11:53 on Saturday night. Columbia Police have announced that they have arrested 36-year-old Alexis Gonzalez. They are seeking charges first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon against Gonzalez. While CPD says Gonzalez lives in Columbia, the Boone County jail roster lists his address as Orlando, Florida.

Police say that when they arrived on-scene, they found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound. Officers provided first aid until EMS personnel arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. While Columbia Police haven’t said the extent of the victim’s injuries, our news partner KMIZ reports he was seriously injured.

One employee who works at a nearby business on Nifong tells 939 the Eagle that she saw 22 police vehicles at or near Buffalo Wild Wings after the shooting. 939 the Eagle went to the restaurant on Sunday afternoon, and a sign posted on the front door says they will not be open today.

One man who was inside Buffalo Wild Wings when the shooting happened was Mizzou student Aidan Whiting, who tells KMIZ that he and others were inside watching a UFC fight when he saw someone walking or running towards the side door. He thought it was a fight until he heard gunshots.

CPD’s investigation is still ongoing: they encourage anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS. You can call that number anonymously, and CPD says you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500, if you provide information leading to an arrest.
