UPDATE: Power restored for all Columbia residents

Columbia Water and Light crews have restored power to about 1,500 residents, including 141 residents who live near West Broadway and Fairview.

Columbia Utilities spokesman Matt Nestor tells 939 the Eagle that equipment failure is to blame for the power outage, which impacted residents in several areas of the city. They include the Business Loop, an area around Columbia Country Club, Scott Boulevard and an area near I-70 and Highway 63. Bob Evans, Steak ‘n Shake and Breaktime all lost power near I-70.

The power outage began at about 1 am.
