UPDATE: Power restored to more than 2,700 Columbia residents

Columbia utilities officials say a relay issue on a new transformer is to blame tor Monday afternoon’s power outage that impacted more than 2,700 residents.

City of Columbia Utilities outreach supervisor Jason West tells 939 the Eagle the relay issue on a new transformer caused two circuits to go out. Crews went to the Perche creek substation and made repairs.

Mr. West says the outage lasted about 90 minutes.
