Tuesday’s final vote was 830 in favor and 281 against, well above the four-sevenths majority required. Hallsville school officials say the money will fund numerous projects, including security upgrades. Additional security doors will be installed at main entrances at Hallsville’s intermediate, middle and high school. New classrooms at Hallsville’s primary school are also planned to address growing school enrollment. The district will also build a new baseball field and add an artificial surface multipurpose field.

The Hallsville school district serves more than 1,500 students, and enrollment is expected to continue to rise as new housing developments are built.
