Columbia Planning and Zoning commission chair Sharon Jones has been elected to Columbia’s fourth ward council seat, which has been vacant since June.
Jones received 3,930 votes on Tuesday, while Dave Sorrell ad 2,926 votes. Ryan King had 812 votes.
Ms. Jones campaigned door-to-door and focused on three main priorities: growth with a purpose, standing up for Columbia and investing in city employees. She wants to see attainably priced housing in every neighborhood and calls for living wages for city employees.

Former Fourth ward councilman Nick Foster resigned in June, when his wife accepted a new job in Georgia and they moved there.
