Boone County Sheriff’s deputies confirm Thursday night’s shooting in the parking lot of a Columbia bar is now being investigated as a homicide.

The incident happened at about 8:15 in the parking lot of Jake’s Bar and Grill. Boone County Sheriff’s Captain Brian Leer tells 939 the Eagle that the shooting in the parking lot followed a disagreement that had happened between subjects inside Jake’s. Captain Leer says the victim, who has not been identified, was transported from the scene but later died from injuries. Captain Leer emphasizes they’re actively investigating. Anyone with information is urged to call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS. Your identity will be protected.

Our news partner KMIZ reports Boone County sheriff’s deputies, Columbia Police and Missouri state troopers responded to Jake’s, after the shooting. Jake’s is located at the Lakeview Mall, which is on Clark lane across from Club Car Wash. You could see crime scene tape outside the mall as KMIZ’s Mitch Kaminski reported live on television last night. Mr. Kaminski saw at least one dozen Boone County sheriff’s deputies searching the scene with flashlights, looking for shell casings.
