This week’s fair in mid-Missouri’s Cooper County will proceed, but without a carnival.
The Cooper County Fair Board says a new carnival has not been secured. The fair board tells 939 the Eagle that the plan is for the Cooper County fair to still take place but without the carnival.
939 the Eagle’s Mike Murphy reports Amusement Associates shut down operations immediately last week, due to surging insurance costs. That happened about a week before the fair.
The Cooper County Fair opens Tuesday, with the rabbit show at 4. Wednesday evening will feature horse barrel racing. One of the fair’s most popular events is the BBQ competition, which takes place Saturday morning at 8.
The Cooper County Fair is celebrating its 71st anniversary this year.
