A truck driver from Las Vegas has been killed in this week’s tractor trailer crash on eastbound I-70 near Boonville in Cooper County.

Tuesday morning’s crash happened on eastbound I-70 at the 104 mile marker at about 7:45 am on Tuesday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report says 43-year-old Vernon Hawthorne of Nevada was traveling eastbound on I-70 in his freightliner, when he exited the left side of the road then returned to the interstate, before the semi slid and overturned.

The Patrol’s crash report says Mr. Hawthorne, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the tractor trailer and was pronounced dead at the scene.
