Boone County prosecutors are reviewing charges after three people were shot in downtown Columbia during a chaotic scene early Saturday morning.
The incident happened at about 1:40 this morning in the 900 block of East Broadway, near Ninth street. That’s just a few blocks from the Columbia Police station. CPD says one adult male and two adult females were shot, adding that one of the female victims suffered life-threatening injuries. All three victims were transported to a local hospital. CPD says one adult male has been taken into custody and that there are no additional suspects at this time.

Reporter Haley Swaino from our news partner ABC-17 quotes witness Christian Barger, who was at a nearby hot dog stand when he heard gunshots. Barger believes it was a drive-by shooting, saying he heard a tire screech and then gunfire. Barger tells ABC-17 that he ducked and that “bullets were whizzing by my face.” The triple shooting happened with thousands of people in town for Mizzou’s homecoming.
