Last week’s heavy rain in mid-Missouri caused numerous delays on construction projects, including traffic changes near Kingdom City’s busy I-70 and Highway 54 interchange.

The state Department of Transportation (MoDOT) hoped to begin changes last week, but weather caused delays. MoDOT says the changes will now begin Monday morning, as westbound Highway 54 traffic is moved onto the newly built bridge to the west of the existing structures and eastbound 54 shifts onto the current westbound lanes.

Crews continue to make major improvements to the I-70 and 54 interchange. MoDOT notes this is part of the $405-million project to rebuild and expand I-70 between Columbia and Kingdom City.

National Weather Service (NWS) St. Louis meteorologist Jayson Gosselin tells 939 the Eagle that 2.63 inches of rain has fallen in March at Columbia Regional Airport (COU). Fulton and Kingdom City have also seen heavy rains.
