UPDATE: CPD releases names of two victims killed in Paris road collision

UPDATE: Columbia Police have released names of the two motorists killed in this morning’s fiery head-on collision on Route B (Paris road).

CPD investigators say 48-year-old Douglas Brooks of Columbia and 52-year-old Christine Kaisher of Hallsville were both pronounced dead at the scene. Columbia Police say the crash happened when Brooks was traveling northbound in the passing lane of southbound traffic. The vehicles collided head-on.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

HERE IS OUR ORIGINAL STORY FROM THIS MORNING:

Columbia firefighters confirm two people have been killed in that collision in the 5800 block of Paris road this (Wednesday) morning, near Waco and the 3M plant.

Columbia fire department captain Tracy Gray tells 939 the Eagle that the multi-vehicle crash happened at about 7:20 am. When firefighters arrived on-scene, they found one vehicle on the road with heavy front-end damage and one vehicle on fire in the ditch.

Captain Gray says more details will be released after Columbia Police finish their investigation.

Paris road is still closed in both directions at Waco. You’re urged to avoid the area.
