Columbia Police need your assistance in finding the suspect or suspects who shot two people late Saturday night at Columbia’s Cosmopolitan park.
The incident happened during a large gathering at a park shelter. CPD officers responded to the park at about 10:30 pm and located a man and a woman with gunshot wounds. CPD says the male victim is in critical but stable condition and that the female victim is in serious condition. Both victims were transported to an area hospital.
CPD’s initial investigation says the incident happened during a large gathering of fraternity and sorority members from Columbia and Jefferson City who had gathered at the park, which closes at midnight. CPD’s preliminary information indicates organizers had not secured shelter reservations with Columbia Parks and Recreation department.
Numerous agencies responded to the double shooting, including Missouri state troopers, Boone County Sheriff’s deputies and Ashland police. 939 the Eagle News checked Sunday afternoon with CPD spokesman Brian McNeill, who had no updates beyond the news release.
