USDA approves disaster food aid in Missouri

Federal food aid is coming to Missouri, as COVID-19 increases the need at food banks.

The state Department of Social Services says the USDA has signed off on Disaster Household Distribution in the state. People in need can get 25-pound packages of food staples provided by the feds at more than 200 locations statewide. Officials expect the USDA program to roll out everywhere by next week, and think they’ll serve 90,000 Missourians.
