Veit supports limits on pandemic-related lawsuits

State lawmakers are looking at bills designed to protect businesses and hospitals from being sued over COVID-related issues.

“No one knows what the effects of covid are. What is a reasonable standard? It’s changing every day,” Jefferson City Republican Rep. Rudy Veit says. “Businesses have to continue to operate, and schools have to be able to operate.”

But Veit, who is also an attorney, says clear-cut cases of inappropriate care of virus patients will have to be spelled out to create an effective law.

Work in the Missouri House is on hold this week because of a COVID-19 outbreak.
