Veteran Boone Hospital and Boone Health executive leaving to take job in St. Louis

Boone Health’s chief operating officer’s last day with Boone is tomorrow (Friday).

Monica Smith has been with Boone Hospital Center and now Boone Health for more than 17 years. She’s served there as the ICU director, director of their cardiac service line, chief nursing officer and chief operating officer.

Ms. Smith has accepted an executive position with a different healthcare provider in the St. Louis region. She says Boone is the best, “because of the people.” Ms. Smith is urging her colleagues to never forget the difference every employee at Boone makes in their lives of those they serve. She says she’s been privileged and honored to work beside the Boone family.

2023 statistics from Columbia Regional Economic Development Incorporated (REDI) show that Boone Hospital Center is Columbia/Boone County’s sixth-largest employer, with 1,581 employees.
