Tomorrow (Friday) is the observance of Veterans Day, which is a federal, Missouri, county and city holiday. Most government offices will be closed tomorrow to observe the holiday.

Most of Jefferson City’s approximately 14,000 state employees will have the day off, except for emergency services like the Missouri State Highway Patrol and state prisons. County courthouses are closed tomorrow, so there will be no court statewide tomorrow.

Columbia spokeswoman Sydney Olsen says city offices will be closed tomorrow and that the Go COMO transit system will not operate tomorrow. However, Ms. Olsen says residential curbside trash will be collected tomorrow and that the city landfill will be open.

Ms. Olsen says this will be the first year that the city of Columbia will observe Veterans Day as a municipal holiday. Veterans Day is one of Missouri’s 13 official state holidays.
