Veterans need to take extra step to qualify for medical marijuana

Applications are now available to potential medical marijuana patients who have been certified by a doctor.

One of the approved conditions for medical marijuana is PTSD, but VA doctors are not allowed to certify patients because medical marijuana is not federally legal.

State program director Lyndall Fraker tells Missourinet that does not disqualify veterans from qualifying for the drug.

“They could take their file and then, with a new exam and by establishing that new relationship with the new doctor, they could become certified,” he said.

Medical marijuana applications are online on the Missouri DHSS website. Link here.
