You’ll soon have a chance to experience a drive-through holiday light spectacular in south Columbia.
Veterans United Home Loans is offering the free event, which begins Tuesday evening. VU spokeswoman Kylee Lawhead says you’ll experience a one-mile loop of lights, holiday displays and music.
“So we’ve got about a mile long journey of lights that go through a couple different themed-areas, from an enchanted forest to a frozen and even a musical light tunnel,” Lawhead says.
The VU holiday lights display starts tomorrow night and is open every night through December 19 from 7 to 10:30.
Columbia Police will assist with traffic flow, and you must access Southampton drive from State Farm Parkway. The traffic flow around the VU campus accommodates about 1,000 cars each evening.
Ms. Lawhead tells 939 the Eagle that more than one-million lights are featured in the holiday light spectacular. It’s a drive-through experience.
“So it just kind of tours around and we’ve got twinkling lights, we’ve got stationary lights, we’ve got creatures built out of lights and all kinds of different shapes and style trees in there,” says Lawhead.
VU notes traffic flow is heaviest early each night, so you’re encouraged to come later to avoid long wait times.
