Violent crime consists of murder, robbery, aggravated assault and rape. The number has dropped from 652 in 2021 to 470 last year. CPD says there were four homicides in 2025, a decrease from the 13 in 2024.

The report also says there were more than 1,400 crashes in 2025, including three fatalities and more than 450 injuries along with a $73-million economic loss to the community.

Columbia Police chief Jill Schlude says an annual report is more than statistics: she says it’s a way to share the story of Columbia policing and highlight the accomplishments of those who serve.
