Voters head to the polls in Tuesday municipal election

It is municipal election day on Tuesday in Missouri.

Changes are on the way on a couple key Columbia political bodies. Voters choose from five candidates for two open school board seats. Only one incumbent is seeking re-election.

Mike Trapp is not running for his city council seat. Three people are in the mix there. The incumbent is in the three-person race for the Ward 6 council seat. Hear interviews with all the candidates.

Some Columbia voters also pick their state representative in a special election. Democrat David Tyson Smith runs against Libertarian Glenn Nielsen to represent the 45th District.

Cole County voters decide Tuesday whether to renew a tax for roads and bridges. Jefferson City has four contested council races, and two school board seats up for grabs.

Fulton has two contested council races, and three candidates running for two school board seats.

Boone County voters decide on a bond issue for the fire protection district. The Southern Boone school district has a bond issue on the ballot too.
