Weekend crash at Finger Lakes motocross track kills teenager

A 13-year-old from northeast Missouri’s New London has been killed in a weekend dirt bike crash at Finger Lakes state park, north of Columbia.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report says Saturday afternoon’s incident happened at the motocross track. Troopers say the 13-year-old male failed to maintain control of his Kawasaki as it traveled over a berm. The dirt bike then went airborne and collided with the ground, ejecting the teen driver.

Our news partner KMIZ reports the teen was life-flighted to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour and 20 minutes later.

New London is about 85 miles from Columbia. It’s a small town near Hannibal.
