Woman charged with murder after west Columbia shooting victim dies

A west Columbia assault victim dies from her injuries, leading to a murder charge for the woman accused of shooting her.

Prosecutors amended a first-degree assault charge against Elizabeth Dye to a first-degree murder charge Friday. Dye is also facing charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Police said they found Maya Wootton with a gunshot wound in a home on Orchard Court Monday morning. The 33-year-old died on Thursday.

Lucas Harper was also arrested hours after the shooting. He is charged with tampering with evidence.
