Woman arrested in Cole County after high-speed chase

A woman is in Cole County jail after leading a high-speed chase this weekend.

ABC 17 reports deputies stopped Dorothy Hernandez Saturday morning after several lane violations. Deputies say she appeared to have watery and glassy eyes. They say she punched the deputy and bit his finger, causing him to bleed, before speeding off. She eventually crashed into a fence near the House of Bargains west of Jefferson City.

Hernandez is charged with DWI, resisting arrest and third-degree assault.
