Work to start on Mineola Hill, Sorrels Overpass projects

Work starts this week on new lanes for a stretch of Interstate 70 in mid-Missouri.

The area known as Mineola Hill east of Columbia in Montgomery County is a spot that can be tricky for truckers. Contractors are building a third climbing lane on both directions of the interstate. The project will cost $15.8 million, and take until Fall 2021 to complete.

MoDot crews are doing deck repairs on Sorrels Overpass just west of Columbia starting Monday, July 6. The bridge over I-70 will be closed 24 hours a day, Mondays thru Fridays, until July 24.
