100 to 150 city and county officials from across Missouri are in Columbia this morning for a two-day transportation conference.

The Missouri Association of County Transportation Officials will hold their opening session Wednesday morning at 10, and will hear a welcome presentation from Boone County Presiding Commissioner Dan Atwill. Work zone safety and pavement failures are a few of the topics that will be addressed. They’ll also be discussing gravel road maintenance, which is an issue in Boone County and across the state.

The conference is taking place at Columbia’s Holiday Inn executive center. Attendees include road supervisors, public works directors and county commissioners.
