Zimmer Communications, the parent company of 939 the Eagle, earned 14 awards including nine first-place awards at this weekend’s Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) awards banquet in Osage Beach.
939 the Eagle’s Brian Hauswirth earned first-place awards for best breaking weather coverage from summer 2024 tornado warnings and for best feature reporting on December’s 90th birthday of Jefferson City Korean War veteran Merle Blessing, who was worried he would be forgotten on his birthday. The Zimmer News Network’s Don Louzader earned first-place awards for best newscast, best news anchor and for documentary. Sports director Andy Humphrey from Zimmer’s KTGR earned first-place awards for best play-by-play and for best commentary.
The MBA presented the 2025 distinguished broadcaster award to Gerry Elam, the longtime program director for Ozark Marketing Company in West Plains.
