Columbia police ask hunters for help in missing person case

The Columbia Police Department is asking for hunter’s help in a missing person case.

With deer season opening on Saturday, officers are asking hunters to remain vigilant while out in rural parts and contact them immediately if they find anything suspicious or connected to Mengqi Ji Elledge.

Officers are also asking landowners to check their hunting cameras during the dates of October 8th to October 11th for any signs of unusual activity.

Elledge has been missing since last month. Her husband, Joseph Elledge is currently in the Boone County Jail facing felony child abuse charges and is also the prime suspect in the disappearance of Mengqi.

Police are now saying she may have had a purse, like this one, with her at the time of her disappearance.

Anyone with information should immediately call the Columbia Police Department at (573) 874-7652 or Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
