Saturday, Aug. 7 will be “Karissa Schweizer Day” in Columbia.
Mayor Brian Treece is signing a proclamation to honor the former Mizzou runner who will compete in the 10-kilometer race final at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday. Schweizer has already competed in the five-kilometer race in Tokyo, finishing 11th overall and first among all Americans in the race.
Schweizer was a six-time national champion in track and cross country at Mizzou.
