Fire badly damages Jefferson City body shop

Firefighters now say a propane gas leak apparently caused that explosion and fire at a body shop west of Jefferson City.

The owner of Xtreme Body and Paint on Lomo Drive was burned when the explosion happened soon after he got there at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Regional West Fire Chief Jack Brade (Brady) says it was quite a blast.

“The garage door was blown 90 feet out away from the building.”

Neighbors and firefighters told Zimmer News they could see flames from miles away. Investigators are looking into that possible propane gas leak.
