SWAG is back.
The Solid Waste Advocacy Group (SWAG) said on Wednesday it has returned to keep Columbia from using roll carts for trash. This was the group behind the push that led to voters banning roll carts in town in 2016.
The city council plans to put the option back on the ballot in November though, pointing to serious staffing concerns with the people who pick up trash bags on Columbia curbs.
Columbia is the only city out of five I have lived in over the last 25 years that doesn’t use trash and recycling cans. I know Missouri kind of lags behind the times, but, wth?
