(AUDIO) State Rep. Sara Walsh discusses tax relief and state employee pay on “Wake Up Columbia”

The GOP-controlled Missouri House voted 103-44 on Thursday to give final approval to legislation providing a one-time economic recovery tax credit for Missourians who paid personal income tax in the state in 2021. Under the bill, anyone filing an individual Missouri personal income tax return would receive a rebate up to $500, while married couples who filed jointly would receive up to a $1,000 credit. House Democrats criticize the bill, saying it wouldn’t help the poorest Missourians. State Rep. Sara Walsh (R-Ashland), voted for it, saying the people of Missouri can spend the money better than government. She joined us live on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Columbia” to outline the plan. We also asked her about state employee pay. That’s a major issue in Jefferson City, which has more than 14,000 state employees:
