Mizzou’s new basketball coach rings Missouri Senate bell to start session

Mizzou’s new basketball coach has been hitting the ground running on recruiting, and he’s also visiting with state lawmakers in Jefferson City.

Coach Dennis Gates rang the bell to begin Thursday morning’s Missouri Senate session. Senate Majority Leader Caleb Rowden (R-Columbia) introduced Coach Gates and Mizzou athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois on the floor.

Rowden tweeted Thursday that he’s excited about the future of Mizzou athletics with new basketball coach Gates, athletic director Reed-Francois and football coach Eli Drinkwitz.

Coach Gates comes from Cleveland State, where he led the Vikings to two Horizon League championships.
