Blair Oaks voters consider tax increase for new high school

If you vote in Wardsville, you might want to get to your polling place a little early on Tuesday.

Blair Oaks voters are being asked to approve the first phase of funding for a new high school.

“Instead of trimming back $5 million from that building, we are keeping our eyes on the goal of what it’s going to look like in 2025,” Supt. Jim Jones says. “We’re going to build the part that we can afford with the $14 million [on Tuesday’s ballot].”

Jones says voters will be asked to okay the bond issue along with a levy increase for staffing the school. That ballot issue includes a small tax increase for homeowners in the Blair Oaks district.
