Boone County Extends Public Health Order Once More

Asking for three more weeks of sacrifice, Boone County officials announced an extension of their public health order Friday in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The new order takes effect at 12:00 am on Wednesday, November 18th and lasts until 12:00 am on Wednesday, December 8th. Bars and restaurants in the county will still be required to close at 10:30 pm every night, standing bar service is prohibited, and masks are still required in all public spaces indoors or where social distancing is not possible.

Earlier in the week, the Columbia / Boone County Health Department said hospitals in the county were starting to reach capacity, and preparing to implement plans to put off elective surgeries and limit visitors.

Columbia Mayor Brian Treece urged mask-wearing not only in his city and Boone County, but also across Mid-Missouri, saying 75% of COVID patients at Columbia hospitals come from counties without mask ordinances in place.
