City moving residents off private sewers

The city of Columbia plans to move privately maintained sewer systems near Sunset Drive, Prospect Street and Crestland Ave. onto the city’s sanitary sewer system.  The proposed improvements are part of the utility’s Private Common Collector Elimination program started in 2008 to replace private outdated sewers and connect them to the city’s public sewer system. There’s a meeting for interested parties at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at city hall.
