Thousands of Cole County homeowners decided it’s worth the money.
A 27-cent tax levy increase was approved for the fire protection district during Tuesday’s midterms.
“If the homeowner has a house value of about $100,000, this new tax will be an additional $51 per year,” Dave Dewitt with the district says.
Dewitt says the district that takes in much of eastern Cole County and parts of Osage and Miller Counties had not seen a levy increase in decades. The ballot issue passed with 58 percent support.
