Columbia man arrested after police chase, crash

A Columbia man is in custody after he tried to drive away from cops and crashed into two cars in a neighborhood.

Authorities say Morris McDonald, 34, refused to stop for police at Providence Road and Business Loop at around 1 a.m. Friday morning. He then sped off into a neighborhood, onto Bicknell Street.

Police finally caught him after he crashed into two parked cars on Bicknell and West Walnut. They arrested him in a nearby backyard.

Police found heroin and a stolen gun in his car. He’s now facing a number of criminal charges, including first-degree drug trafficking, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest.
