Columbia school voters consider $20 million bond issue

Columbia Public Schools has a bond issue on Tuesday’s ballot.

The $20 million would go toward projects like an addition at an elementary school (either Russell or Battle), a new elevator for the upgraded Jefferson Middle School gym, and new turf on high school fields.

“We keep growing. So it’s about growth, it’s about safety and security, and it’s about accessibility,” CPS Supt. Peter Stiepleman says.

You won’t feel a tax increase if this bond passes. It just extends the current rate. Fulton has a similar $27.5 million bond issue on the ballot for its district’s voters.
