Plummeting temperatures and snow and ice heading for mid-Missouri have prompted Columbia officials to open the Wabash station downtown as a temporary overnight warming center tonight (Wednesday) and tomorrow night.

The center will be open both nights from 7 pm until 6 am, and is available for those unable or unwilling to access local emergency shelter services.

The Wabash will also be open from noon until 5 both days as a warming center.
