COVID-19 Update (Aug. 24)

Boone County health officials confirmed a sixth COVID-19 death on Monday. The patient was older than 80 years old.

Boone recorded its four highest days of active coronavirus cases Wednesday through Saturday (59, 64, 81, and 78 respectively). The new positives dropped a lot on Monday, to 31.

Dozens of people were removed from isolation Monday, bringing the active case count down to 385. About half the new cases are college-age people. Boone County hospitalizations rose from 31 to 38 on Monday, but are still well below capacity.

Cole County reported just five new cases Monday. Another 60 patients have recovered since Friday.

Callaway County reported an increase of 17 new cases since Friday, with 12 more recovered.

Missouri recorded 869 new coronavirus cases on Monday, and no new deaths. There have been 1,426 COVID-19 deaths statewide. The seven-day positive test rate is at 11.6%.
