The Columbia Public Schools Board of Education got an update during Monday night’s meeting on possible changes to its elementary school boundaries.
Eight elementary schools are at 80% capacity or less, while five are at more than 100% capacity.
The district is asking families for feedback this week, both online and at in-person open houses. The open houses are Tuesday at Gentry Middle School from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Jefferson STEAM Middle School from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday at Lange Middle School from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Some changes to elementary school boundaries tied to Parkade Elementary could take effect in the fall. Parkade is at 130% capacity, the highest in the district. Other changes would not happen until the 2022-23 school year.
The board of education looked at several potential new maps on Monday night. You can view the presentation here.
