Court documents say that 2017 killing near Old Hawthorne golf course in east Columbia was connected to a big marijuana operation.
Augustus Roberts died soon after officers found him unconscious outside a home on Lasso Circle.
The documents unsealed Thursday involve a federal drug case against an Oregon man, Craig Dewitt Smith. At one point in Smith’s alleged drug operation, investigators say Roberts was killed during a home invasion, and about 800 pounds of marijuana was stolen from a U-Haul truck parked in his driveway.
We still don’t know who killed the 28-year-old Roberts.
