Fayette man charged after shooting death of son

A Fayette man faces criminal charges in the shooting death of his 15-year-old son.

A new judge was assigned to Eddie Valencia’s case on Tuesday.

Court documents say Valencia told authorities he was checking his gun on Feb. 20 and did not think it was loaded. He pulled the trigger while it was pointed at his son and it went off, shooting the boy in the head.

Valencia, 51, is charged with first degree involuntary manslaughter.
