Fulton’s mask mandate starts Tuesday, Dec. 1. The city council passed the order last week.
Mayor Lowe Cannell says on Wake Up Columbia the ordinance is complaint-driven.
“The intent is not to give people big fines. We want to use it as an educating tool more than anything. So we hope people are compliant, and then hopefully this will minimize the spread.”
Cannell says Callaway County’s recent move into the White House “red zone” for the coronavirus was a factor in the mask mandate. It is in effect for 90 days for almost everyone age nine and up.
