Some ‘seed money’ for the planned Jefferson City river port isn’t on the way after all.
Cole County Presiding Commissioner Sam Bushman confirms the Heartland Port Authority isn’t getting a $1-million build grant for which it had applied.
“It’s going to be private money,” Bushman said. “We aren’t going to use any of our public money.”
The plan is to build a river port on the Missouri River to better help businesses access barges to ship their goods.
